Pithruvedi is an inclusive organisation that extends an invitation to all married men within our Parish community to join as members. The organisation is deeply rooted in the devotion to St. Joseph, the Patron Saint of fathers and husbands, who stands as an inspiring role model through his unwavering surrender to God's will. St. Joseph's life reflects profound qualities of obedience, care, and dedication, as he diligently protected the Holy Family and exhibited exemplary self-control in his daily life. These virtues serve as a guiding light for the members of Pithruvedi, encouraging them to emulate his steadfast faith and devotion to family.
The primary mission of Pithruvedi is to foster a close-knit community of individuals who are united in their shared faith and commitment to serve the community. By immersing its members in the teachings of the Church, the organisation seeks to deepen their understanding of religious principles and inspire them to lead lives filled with love and unity.
Pithruvedi places a strong emphasis on the importance of selflessness and prioritising Gospel values / family values. Through its various activities and initiatives, it aims to reinforce the significance of a life anchored in prayer and service. The organisation encourages its members to embrace their roles as leaders within their families, promoting a lifestyle that nurtures love, respect, and harmony. By cultivating these values, Pithruvedi aspires to strengthen individual families, broader parish community and beyond, creating an environment of mutual support.
In April 2018, Fr Fredy Eluvathingal was appointed as the second vicar of the parish, bringing with him a deep commitment to spiritual growth and community development. Under his leadership, the parish flourished both spiritually and physically, fostering a strong sense of faith and unity among its members.
A significant milestone in the parish’s history took place on 23 September 2022, when the foundation stone for a new church was laid at 525-531 Frankston-Dandenong Road, Dandenong South. This marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter, reflecting the growing needs of the congregation and the vision for an expanded place of worship.
To further strengthen the faith community, the parish established prayer wards across 24 units, providing a structured network for communal prayer and fellowship. Additionally, weekly Holy Qurbana was conducted at various local centres, ensuring that parishioners had regular opportunities to participate in the sacred liturgy and deepen their spiritual lives.
Fr Fredy’s dedication and leadership were instrumental in the parish’s development during his tenure. After five years of devoted service, he was transferred back to Kerala on 31 May 2023, leaving behind a legacy of faith, growth, and community spirit.
